Whew - finally made it to my last Pumpkin sample, and then the post title turned out to be problematic: "Simple Friend?" "Clean Friend?" That was a close one! Strangely, this week's Clean & Simple #239 was another sketch that was practically perfect for the March 2013 Paper Pumpkin - I've seen a lot of folks cut out those leftovers from the "award" shaped sticker, and I knew I wanted to try that on at least one of the "Hey There" cards. This was my big chance! It turned out to be lucky I hadn't used my buttons on other cards, as well, that gave me just a few more circle to work with - yay! March 2013 Paper Pumpkin - Hey There; So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise CS & ink; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; 7/8" Circle punch; green string.

OK, everyone, we're almost there - only one more Paper Pumpkin after this one! And then, of course, the next kit will come, lol... But I'll make sure to spread them out better next time, I promise! So, this Freshly Made Sketch #84 OF COURSE screamed "Hey There, Friend" to me, because of the little flag shape - that was one of the exact elements in the March Paper Pumpkin! The sketch gods are calling for more Pumpkins, I swear! I added a bit of color to brighten things up even more - but even so, this card took 5 minutes flat! Just enough time to squeeze in before the PTO meeting! March 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Hey There"; Old Olive & Tempting Turquoise CS; Tempting Turquoise & Basic Black inks; 1/4" grosgrain in Old Olive; self-adhesive Rhinestones. OK, here's the final "Seriously" card - I promise! Yay! The bad news is I still have one card left in the "Hey There" kit, that has to go, too. I ought to finish just in time for the May kit to arrive, huh? I think I will resolve to do one kit card a week from now on, so they don't end up laying around. OTOH, I'm really loving transforming these cards by applying the different sketch challenges to them - the sketches really do give you boundless flexibility! So, victim #4, I mean, lucky recipient #4 is Paper Craft Crew Sketch #40 - how'd I do? It IS a funny little exercise to impose these kinds of conditions on myself, lol, but hey, sometimes it just has to be done. One thing I do love about the Paper Pumpkin kits is that they have great bones for the more avid stamper, while they still can be totally stand-alone for the novice. So far, I've also gotten cute accessories that I didn't actually already have - like the great nickel buttons in the "Seriously" kit. Good times! April 2013 Paper Pumpkin -Seriously; plus, More Mustard & Old Olive CS; Ovals Collection framelits; Occasions piercing template; Regals DSP pack on envelope-Not Quite Navy; Old Olive & Not Quite Navy inks. Good grief - Stampin' Up! is pouring on the specials again this month! The first is a cool new bundle offer - TWO new photipolymer sets, called "show & Tell 1", and "Show & Tell 2," bundled with a new online class called "seeing The Possibilities," all for $35.95! That's a good deal - you'll get 64 stamps plus the class - wow! I think I might need to sign up for this one myself... Click on the picture to the right to see the full flyer for all the details! And, we also have the May "Best Of..." set ready just in time for Spring - Best of Brides & Babies! Click on the picture to go to a full-size flyer! So, do you detect a little theme going on at my desk this week? That's right, this is the Paper Pumpkin Clean Out around here! My resolution? To do my usual round of sketches, and ONLY use Paper Pumpkin - no more hoarding! It's my new-catalog-is-coming resolution! When I saw this week's Sunday Stamps #46 - I wasn't sure I could keep my resolution - could I really make the pieces work? Yes! Especially when you consider the leftover pieces, too - this sketch was PERFECT for that! April 2013 Paper Pumkpin - Seriously; Regals DSP on envelope, More Mustard. The Bloomin' Bouquet Project Kit! Mother's Day. Teacher appreciation. Just because. Say thank you with this no-maintenance bouquet. There's no watering, no weeding-just enjoying. This easy-to-assemble kit comes complete with the petals, stems, and buttons to create the flowers, as well as four different tags to make this the perfect gift for any occasion. All you need is some paper, ribbon or a vase to add the finishing touches to the bouquet. As if that weren't enough, the kit contains a "baker's dozen"! This means you can create and give (or keep) a dozen flowers, and have a bonus flower left over to pass along to someone new! Give it to someone you wouldn't normally think of: a teller at the bank, a grocery store clerk, or the librarian at your local library. Anyone you encounter on your way that you'd like to give a little "thank you" to! Ordering information: Item 134542 $12.95 Available starting April 29, while supplies last. Kit contents:
As soon as I saw the sketch for Fab Friday #17, I thought of our latest Paper Pumpkin kit - "Seriously." Here's where I point out that I did NOT name this post "Fabulous Booty" when I could have! Heee... I know the tag shape was just a suggestion, but, well, the kit actually HAS tags in it - how could I resist? Buttons, too, it's like they made this sketch with the kit in mind, IMHO! Now if only I could bring myself to use the other sentiment from the kit. It's a bit too weird even for me! ("Love your guts"?? Who talks like that?) April 2013 Paper Pumpkin-Seriously; More Mustard CS; Not Quite Navy ink. Envelope: Designer Typeset stamp set; Not Quite Navy, More Mustard & Old Olive inks. OK, I SERIOUSLY considered calling this post "Clean Booty," giggle... I created this week's Clean & Simple #237 card from the April Paper Pumpkin Kit - Seriously! I do think the sentiments from this kit are pretty cute, so I had to doctor it up a bit to take a stab at a sketch card with it. I think I might give this to Bug in celebration of getting through another year of AIMS testing! Seriously Paper Pumpkin kit, plus Button, Button stamp set; Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive CS; Print Poetry DSP; Bitty Punch Pack. I hope everyone had a blessed and beautiful Easter this weekend - I sure did! What a celebration! For today's Clean & Simple #234, I decided to do another dressed up card using the Hey There Paper Pumpkin kit supplies. It really is a challenge to look at the supplies and think of what can be added to give it that little extra oomph! For today's version, I decided what we were missing was some purple to go with that little splash of green - yay! My favorite color combo! Moving Forward stamp set; Hey There kit supplies, plus Floral District DSP; Rich Razzleberry & Lucky Limeade CS and inks; self-adhesive Rhinestones. And here's the April Best Of set - Best of Butterflies! Check out the brand new image that coordinates with the Elegant Butterfly punch! Still $14.95 - get yours today, and earn that free set! I decided to tackle this week's Freshly Made Sketch #78 using all the cute bits and pieces that came in my very first Paper Pumpkin kit - the "Hey There Try It" kit. Of course, I had to add some extras - I know these kits are made to be a kind of intro to Stampin' Up!, and they really are put together with the customary finesse that SU! always uses, but hey (friend!) what's a bit more? I added some extra colors, a bit of ribbon, a bit of bling, doctored some of the cool adhesive elements that came with the kit, and hey-presto, here we are, and using colors that are definitely outside my usual pallet. Cool! Hey There Paper Pumpkin Kit (stamp, DSP, card base, button & stickers) plus Tempting Turquoise & Tangerine Tango CS; Scallop Border & 7/8" Circle punches; Floral Frames framelits; Old Olive ink; Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain; self-adhesive Rhinestones. |
